A Psychological Interrogation

Subject ID: Von Wolfsburg, O.
Classification: High-Value Target
Session: Initial Evaluation

The room is cold, white, grainy. A familiar voice calls out in hushed tones.

“What do you want?!”

“Will you speak with us Herr Von Wolfsburg?”

“JA! — what do you want to know?”

Subject alert, defensive posture established. Arms crossed. Elevated stress indicators within normal parameters.

“Your name, please.”

“I am Olaf Von Wolfsburg.”

“…and what are you doing here Herr Von Wolfsburg?”

“You tell me!”

“….Why are your arms crossed?”

“What does that matter?”

Subject becoming agitated. Deflection patterns consistent.

“How many men have you killed?”

Arms remain crossed. Defensive barriers reinforced.

“That depends on your definition of ‘men.'”

“Answer the question, please.”

“In service to my country? Or after?”

First crack detected. Subject differentiating between sanctioned and unsanctioned violence.

“Both.”

Arms uncross. First defensive breach achieved.

“Seventeen for Deutschland. Maybe… forty-three after.”

“Maybe? Have you forgotten how to count?”

Minor spasm – subject’s left eye. Arms tightening, maintain position.

“Some were not worth counting.”

“….and who decides what counts, Herr Von Wolfsburg?”

Jaw tightening observed. Stress indicators rising.

“I do!”

Subject visibly agitated – slams fist into table – Continue with established protocol.

“Who was it that made you God?”

Knee begins rhythmic motion. Subject entering elevated stress state.

“….Over all wars? Different hits? Sixty – maybe seventy.”

Voice carries regret. Subject showing first signs of psychological pressure.

“Were you proud of this number?”

“What number?”

“Your kill count…Olaf”

“Maybe… I used to be.”

“Why did you used to be…?”

Arms crossed in frustration. Deflection pattern re-establishing.

“Speak of Teresa.”

Eyes darkening. Jaw tightened. Critical psychological territory identified. Follow plan, move on.

RING ONE: DAS RHEINGOLD

“Herr Von Wolfsburg….at what point did begin to enjoy it?”

Knee stops rhythmic motion. Complete stillness achieved. Appearance is somber, shoulders relaxing.

“….The library. When he killed Bruce…derr fat shame of Liverpool….”

“…You mean you enjoyed watching a man’s skull get crushed?”

Subject appears aggravated at the question.

“Nein!….I enjoyed knowing I could do worse to the McDougal’s of the world. That I had permission.”

“Permission from who?!”

“From the monster himself….If McDougal could kill for pleasure…so could I. For justice.”

Subject’s voice ice cold. Emotional detachment concerning.

“It was you who became the thing you fought…didn’t you, Olaf?”

Silence. Subject contemplating statement.

“What were you before you met Herr McDougal?”

“A soldier!”

Subject’s body position showing stress.

“What kind of a soldier?”

“The best kind.”

Defensive pride pattern emerging.

“What was it that made you the best?”

“I never missed.”

“Never?”

“Not when it mattered.”

Brief pause. Subject accessing older memories.

“847 meters. My longest confirmed kill in service.”

“How did that feel?”

“Like justice.”

“And later? The ones that weren’t for Deutschland?”

Longer pause. Psychological barriers weakening.

“Like….necessity. I still had work to do and ze targets were clean”

Subject appears to be tiring. Proceed with questioning.
